Mrs. Helen M. Decker, age 95, of Freeland, formerly of Cass City, passed away Tuesday afternoon,
February 27, 2018.
Helen was born October 25, 1922 in Bingham Township, the daughter of George and Maud (Wyers)
Copeland. She attended Bingham and Hay Creek County Schools and was a 1940 graduate of
Cass City High School. On November 2, 1940 she married Clarence (Jerry) Decker and together
they farmed for many years before moving to Freeland. Jerry passed away July 12, 2004. She was
known for her beautiful handmade quilts and homemade wine, which she enjoyed sharing with
family and friends, while playing cards or just visiting. She also enjoyed spending her birthdays at
the casino, surrounded by those she loved.
Surviving are her three daughters, Connie Sue (Jack) Beltz of Freeland, Kay Marie (Joe) Loeffler of
Midland and Kathy Lynn (Terry) Roshau of Oregon, 8 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, 3
great-great-grandchildren and many wonderful nieces and nephews. In addition to Jerry and her
parents, Helen was predeceased by her sisters and brothers.
Honoring Helen's wishes, cremation has taken place and burial will be in Elkland Township Cemetery,
Cass City.
