Berenice Sowden Obituary
Mrs. Berenice Edna Hughes Sowden, age 85,of Cass City, passed away Thurs., Aug. 12, 2010 at Whispering Pines, Lapeer, MI.
She was born Sept. 7, 1924 in Oxford, MI, the daughter of the late Nathaniel and Margaret (Caswell) Darling. Berenice married Oran Hughes, he passed away Sept. 23, 1985, she then married Clare Sowden, he passed away Jan. 26, 1992. Berenice was a life member of VFW auxiliary and the Caro Moose, she loved playing bingo. She worked at Hills and Dales Hopsital as a Physical Therapist Assistant for 20 years, retiring in 1985.
She is survived by her children, Mary Smith of Marlette, Elizabeth (Phillip) Morse of Columbiaville and Judy (the late Arnold) Corkins of Davison, 9 grandchildren, 20 great grandchildren and 5 great great grandchildren. She was predeceased by a son, Charles Hughes and 7 brothers and sisters.
Visiting is Mon., Aug. 16, 2010 from 10 AM until a 1 PM service at Thabet Funeral Home, 6255 Main St., Cass City, MI. Pastor Bruce Darling officiating. Burial will be in Elkland Township Cemetery.
