Mr. Don A. Simmons, age 77, of Cass City, passed away,
Wednesday, May 21, 2014 at home after a short battle
with cancer.
He was born Jan. 17, 1937 in Elmwood Township, the
son of the late Elmer and Maude (Hughes) Simmons. In
1958 he married his wife Lola, she passed away on March
2, 1999. He served in the U S Coast Guard, then had a
career in the U S Airforce, serving in Vietnam and retiring
as a Tech Sargeant. He loved bear hunting, especially black
bear at his cabin in the U. P. He worked with honey bees,
then did cattle ranching, such as Angus and Charlox Beef.
Don is survived by his dear Sandy Tierney, a son, William
(Lisa) Simmons of AL, a grand daughter, Stephanie (Tyler)
Decker of KS, a great grand daughter, Shelby Rose Decker,
2 sisters, Delores (the late Carlton) Hancock of MN and
Frances (Tony) Bishop of AL.
A graveside service will be held Wednesday, May 28, 2014 at
11 AM at Elmwood Township Cemetery Gagetown. Roy Lee Carter
officiating. Family and friends may gather at 10:30 AM.
Memorials may be made to the Rawson Memorial Library
or any Veteran's organization.
