Donald Lee Smith, Sr.

Donald Lee Smith, Sr., age 83, of Cass City, passed away suddenly, on Fri. July 22, 2022 in Cass City. Donald was born Nov. 7, 1938 in Grant Township, the son of the late Lee Manton and Celia Bell (Evans) Smith.

On July 3, 1960 he married Arvilla Myers in Columbiaville. She passed away May 18, 2009. Donald served in the U S Navy as a Second Class Radarman and served on President Kennedy’s flag ship. He worked for General Motors and retired as an engine tester and inspector. He rode horses in the 4H and rodeos and enjoyed hunting and fishing and time with his family.

Donald is survived by his children, Donald Smith, Jr. of Cass City and Rhonda (Edward) Yax of Deford,   grandchildren, Dalton (Chenese) Yax, Kayla Yax, Arthur (Autumn) Stilson, Amanda (Jeff) Krause, Tiffany (Justin) Giraud, Donnie (Michayla) Smith, Sarah (Carl) Galbenski and Victoria Smith, great grandchildren, Mikenzee, Ethann, Elicia, Thomas, Alexus, Nevaeh, Alice, Felicia, Avalon, Jordan, Cailey, Matthew, Arthur, Jr., Isabella, Dillan, Olivia, Payton, Jaelynn, Walley, Rylnn and Hayden. 

He was predeceased by his son, Matthew Smith and sister, Shirley Hendricks, and a brother, Fred Smith. 

Visitation will be on Wed. July 27, 2022 from 10 AM until 12 noon, at Thabet Funeral Home, 6255 Main, Cass City. The funeral service will begin at 12 noon with Reverend Roger Mosey officiating. Burial will be in Elkland Township Cemetery.  Pallbearers for Donald will be: Jeff Krause, Justin Giraud, Carl Galbenski, Donnie Smith, Ethann Piaskowski and Thomas Ross.
