Edward James LaBelle, 83, of Cass City passed away peacefully on January 8, 2026. He was born April 9, 1942, son of the late Benjamin and Grace (Deman) LaBelle, and grew up in Bad Axe MI. He married the love of his life, Pamela Picklo on March 26, 1966. The two were married for 59 years and had two children.
Ed graduated from Bad Axe High School in 1960. He proudly served his country in the U.S. Army from 1963 to 1969. He attended Great Lakes Junior College of Business and was excited to earn his Associate of Business in Accounting degree in 1988. He worked for General Cable, Hamill Manufacturing, Bluewater Harvestore and Countryside Transportation, retiring at age 82. He enjoyed selling real estate, and often commented on all the wonderful people he met.
Ed was a devout Catholic and as a member of St. Pancratius Catholic Church (Our Lady Consolata Parish) since 1966 and a fourth degree member of the Central Thumb Knights of Columbus since 1985, he was actively committed to his faith. With a generous and positive spirit, Ed was always willing to lend a hand and help others. He was quick with a smile and a friendly hello, and had many close friendships. Ed’s greatest joy was his family and spending time with them. It was clear to see it was his priority to always love and support them. It was a blessing to have him as a husband and dad.
Ed is survived by his loving wife of nearly 60 years, Pamela, son, Jeffery (Debbie) LaBelle of Fort Wayne, IN, daughter, Katie (Jeff) Gendron of Grand Rapids, grandchildren, Jordan, Connor, Anna, Benjamin, Maiah and Lily and great grandchildren, Avery and Quinn as well as many beloved nieces and nephews. He was predeceased in death by brothers, Robert LaBelle, John LaBelle and Charles LaBelle and a sister, Grace Ann Phillips.
Ed was dearly loved by so many. He will be greatly missed.
A memorial mass will be held at Our Lady Consolata Parish, St. Pancratius Church, 4292 S. Seeger St., Cass City, Saturday, May 9, 2026 at 10 AM. Fr. Robert Pare as celebrant, assisted by Deacon David Gillespie. Family and friends may start gathering at 9 AM.
