Mr. Eugene Cody, age 92, of Cass City, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2011 at Hills and Dales Hospital, Cass City.
Gene was born July 13, 1918 in Hendersonville, NC, son of the late Lloyd and Grace (Lewis) Cody. He married Serene Works on February 7, 1952 in Toledo, OH. Gene was a WWII Army veteran, enlisting at the age of 22, he was in Company "A" 51st Armored Infantry in Pine Camp, NY. He worked at Evans Products, Gagetown for over 30 years and also at General Cable and Millennium Industries, Cass City. Gene loved to travel, bike riding, walking, attending baseball games in Detroit and Chicago and attending the Indy 500. He loved time with his family, especially his grandchildren and will truly be missed.
Gene is survived by his wife of 58 years, Serene, son Ron Cody of Gagetown and daughter, Sandy (Joe) Cody Gwinn, three grandchildren, Maximillian, Alexander and Reese, all of Chicago, IL, a sister, Mary (the late Asher) Robinette of Clayton, GA. He was predeceased by two brothers, Lester Cody and Paul Cody and two sisters, Thelma Yates and Wilma Blakley.
Visiting is Friday, April 8, 2011, from 4 until 8 PM and Saturday, April 9, 2011 from 10 until an 11 AM service at Thabet Funeral Home, 6255 Main St., Cass City. Rev. Chuck Carr officiating.
Burial will be in Elkland Township Cemetery. Honor service by members of the U S Army and the Cass City VFW.
