Mr. Frank James Schwartz, age 67, of Gagetown, passed away Sunday, May 22, 2011 after a long illness, at Hillside AFC Home, with his family by his side.
He was born September 28, 1943 in Brookfield Township, the son of the late Frank G. and Josephine (Lenda) Schwartz. Frank married Ivernia Toner on November 23, 1963. He enjoyed hunting, was a former member of the Grant Township Board of Review. Frank was a farmer, retiring after 42 years. He received the
"Outstanding Soil Conservation Farmer of the Year" Award in 1994 for the many soil conservation practices and planting many Austrian Pine windbreaks to help prevent soil erosion and loved time with his family, especially his grandchildren.
Frank is survived by his loving wife of 47 years, Ivernia, three daughters, Michelle (Doug) Richmond of Pigeon, Brenda (Steve) Adsmond of Fremont and Theresa (Joseph) Jager of Fenton, 7 grandchildren, Kimberlee and Lindsay Ridge, Charlee Lyn Jager, Brittany and Logan Richmond and Megan and Lauren Adsmond, two brothers, George (the late Cynthia) of Gagetown and Richard (the late Mary) of Bad Axe, three sisters, Eleanor (the late Roman) Glaza of Melvin, Gertrude (the late Melvin) Peruski of Ubly and Patricia Gracey of Houston, TX, a sister in law, Margie Muegge of Cass City, many nieces and nephews and a special nephew, Darrel Peruski, who helped Frank farm for 18 years. He was predeceased by two brothers, John and Edward "Bud".
There will be a private memorial and burial. Frank requested no visitation or funeral. Memorials may be made to Alzheimer's Association or to the Thumb Octagon Barn.
