Mr. Frederick E. Thorp, age 74, of Sebewaing,
passed away Sat., June 28, 2014 at Tendercare
Cass City.
He was born Jan. 18, 1940 in Denmark
Township, the son of the late Ambrose and Laura
(Dorrance) Thorp. He served in the U S Army as a
Radar Operator, stationed in Japan. Fred worked
for Sebewaing Industries for 20 years as a die
welder and drove interstate truck for many years.
He liked doing transportation for the Amish, for
fishing trips, hauling their produce or taking
them to PA, IN, or OH.
He is survived by his children, Mike (Sherri)
Thorp of Sebewaing, Tom (Sue) Thorp of Flint,
Pam (the late George) Vargo of Pigeon, Art
(Dynette) Thorp of Owendale, Frederick (Judith)
Thorp of Metamora, Victoria (Sandy) Fritz of
Elkton and Kevin (Susan) Thorp of Sandusky, 19
grandchildren and 14 great grandchildren, a brother,
Ward Thorp of TX and a sister, Vera (the late Donald)
Markhart of Reese. He was predeceased by a grandson,
Arthur and by 2 sisters and 3 brothers.
Honoring Fred's wishes, cremation has taken place and
a memorial gathering will be held Wed. July 2, 2014 at
Thabet Funeral Home, 6255 Main St., Cass City from 2
until 7 PM. Memorials may be made to the Kidney
Foundation.
