George D. Remsing

September 16, 1937 ~ May 26, 2021 (age 83)


Mr. George D. Remsing, age 83 of Cass City, passed away Wed., May 26, 2021 at Beaumont Hospital Taylor, after a short illness.

George was born Sept. 16, 1937, in Detroit, the son of the late George and Martha (Forstner) Remsing. He served in the United States Army. He married Cora Mae Ballard and they spent 48 years together until she passed away Feb. 17, 2009.  George worked as an industrial welder for many years and enjoyed playing the guitar and violin. He liked mowing the lawn with his riding mower and attempted to repair many things. He also liked watching TV and country music.

George is survived by his children, Lena Remsing of Ubly, Martha Remsing of OK, Margaret Remsing of Bad Axe, Arthur (Patricia) Remsing of Akron and Ida Remsing of WA, 7 grandchildren and 9 great grandchildren, two brothers, Frank (Diane) Remsing of AR, and Joe (Lois) Remsing of AZ, three sisters, Helen Keyser of Cass City, Lena (Archie) Lee of MN, and Mary (Albert “Doc”) Smith of OK.  He was predeceased by brothers, Tom, Jim and John Remsing and a sister, Margaret (Charles) Cooley.

Visitation will be held Wed, June 2, 2021 from 6 until  8 PM and Thurs., June 3, 2021 from 10 until an 11 AM service at Thabet Funeral Home, 6255 Main St., Cass City. Rev. Mike Smith of Life Song church officiating. Burial will be next to Cora in Elkland Township Cemetery. Honor service by members of the U. S. Army.
