Mr. Hugh Grant Mitchell, age 85, of Ubly, passed away Tuesday, July 12, 2011, after a long illness, at Tuscola County Medical Care Facility, Caro.
He was born May 24, 1926 in Evergreen Township, the son of the late Harry and Margaret (Phillips) Mitchell. Hugh married Edna Hill on May 29, 1954 in Mizpah Church, Evergreen Township. She passed away November 23, 2007. He was a lifelong farmer and worked for more then 10 years for Cole Carbide, he enjoyed hunting and building birdhouses, and with Edna, he enjoyed flying, traveling, roller skating and dancing.
Hugh is survived by his sons, Robert Mitchell of Ubly and William Mitchell of Stanton, grandson, Brock (Cassandra) McLellan, 3 great grandchildren, Cameron, Victor and Anthony McLellan, sisters, Donna (the late Otis) Dorland of Decker and Jean (John) Wood of St. Louis and many nephews and nieces. He was predeceased by a sister, Ellen Lambert.
Visiting will be Thursday, July 14, 2011 from 4 until 8 PM at Thabet Funeral Home, 6255 Main St., Cass City and Friday, July 15, 2011 from 11 AM until a 12 noon service at First Baptist Church, 6420 Houghton St., Cass City. Pastor David Hill and Rev. John Wood officiating. Burial will be in Novesta Township Cemetery.
