James R. LaPeer

James R. LaPeer (Jim), age 57, of Kapolei, Hawaii (Oahu) passed away peacefully on, Friday, June 2, 2023. 

He was born in Cass City, MI on March 15, 1966 to Richard and Carol Jean (Weippert) LaPeer. Jim was loving, caring, charismatic and fun, and a wonderful son, brother, uncle, nephew, partner, and friend. He graduated from Cass City High School in 1984. Jim attended Eastern Michigan University and lived in the Detroit area working as a designer for several companies in the automotive industry. He loved everything outdoors, especially the beauty and solitude of the woods. Bow hunting, boating, and riding his Harley were among his favorite pastimes. He was a sports nut and a devoted fan of the Michigan Wolverines. In 2010 he moved to Oahu Hawaii where he managed a logistics company for several years. While living in Hawaii he met his partner of nine years, Diana Eberling. Together they shared a deep spiritual connection. They enjoyed spending time with friends, and living in a tropical paradise. 

Jim is survived by his adoring sisters, LeAnn LaPeer Hicks (Jeff), Lansing MI, and Brenda LaPeer Cronin (Tim), O'Fallon MO; nephews Shawn and Shayne Cronin; niece Carlee Jean Cronin, and soulmate Diana Eberling. He was preceded in death by his father, Richard (Dick) LaPeer; mother Carol Jean Martin; and stepfather Raymond Martin. 

Honoring Jim's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private memorial will be held at a later date. 

Memorials may be made to the National Kidney Foundation or the Thumb Animal Shelter.
