Obituary

Janet K. Hoyt, age 62, of Snover, Michigan. Beloved mother, grandmother, sister, aunt, friend and colleague; passed away unexpectedly Friday July 8, 2022, at McLaren Lapeer Regional Hospital.  Daughter of the late James J. and Marjorie E. (Gilbert) Murdick, Janet was born January 27, 1960, in Cass City, Michigan and was a longtime resident of Snover. In addition to her parents, Janet was predeceased by husband Edward Callebert, her brother and sister-in-law James K. (Linda) Murdick and sister JoAnn Guenette.  Surviving to cherish her memory are her three sons: James (Allie) Hoyt of Buena Vista, Jessup Hoyt of Freeland, & Jeremiah Hoyt of Midland; two daughters: Elizabeth (Mike) Denoyer of Armada & Errianne Hoyt of Bay City; five grandchildren: Abigail, Darren, & Derek Denoyer and Dylan & Leah Hoyt; brother John (Debra) Murdick; brother-in-law Wilhelm Guenette; as well as countless unofficial adoptive children and grandchildren.

Janet was a 1978 graduate of Cass City Public School and received her bachelor and master degrees from Saginaw Valley State University.  She met her late husband, Edward Callebert, at the Port Hope Antique Engine Show in 1987 and after 3 decades of friendship, they were married in April 2017.  Janet was employed at Deckerville Pine House for almost 30 years & Huron Behavioral Health for over 10 years.

Janet had a very generous, caring soul and continuously made a difference in many peoples’ lives every day—to say she had a heart of gold is an understatement.  She was closely involved in the Huron County Baby Pantries, Cass City Band Boosters, Sandford Lake Special Olympics, Community of Christ Blue Water Church Camp, & various adult education programs.  She enjoyed being outdoors, crocheting, selling at flea markets, and watching her grandchildren’s sports/activities.

Visitation will be on July 19th from 2-7pm and July 20th from 1-8pm at Thabet Funeral Home, 6255 Main, Cass City.  A celebration of life service will be held on July 21st at Sandusky Community of Christ, 1175 W. Sanilac Rd., Sandusky, with visitation at 10am and the service at 11am.  Janet will be laid to rest at Johnson Cemetery in Evergreen Township.  Those planning an expression of sympathy are asked to consider donating to Sandford Lake Special Needs Camp or Huron County Baby Pantry.
