Leon Duane Marks

Mr. Leon Duane Marks, age 62, of Snover, passed away Thursday, June 11, 2020 at his home.

He was born March 13, 1958, in Detroit, the son of Leon McCormick and Marjorie Marks. On November 14, 1980 he married Donna Rakowski in Sterling Heights.

Duane always had a joke to tell, a story to share. A random fact or song to sing. No matter what it was, he was always willing to share. He was always willing to help someone out and be a friend. Probably best of all, he appreciated the beauty in the world around him, the stars at night or the way the sun set. He was wildly creative, enjoyed woodworking, wrote poems and his own songs, played beautifully on the guitar with an occasional harmonica. Duane loved the simple things and above all he loved his family.

Duane is survived by his loving wife of nearly 40 years, Donna,  his children, Leon (Damaira) Marks of Bay City, Christopher (Erin) Marks of Midland, Brooke (David) Sheufelt of Owendale and Candice (Tyler) Marks of Sebewaing, 8 grandchildren, Derek, Lacey, Camdyn, Bianca, Reid, Roan, Ava and Olivia, his mother, Marjorie Wangler, brothers and sisters, Jim (Cindy) Marks, Sue (Richard) Powell, Brian (Emma) McCormick, Lizzetta (Chris) Sanchez and Jerry McCormick, a sister-in-law, Jennifer McCormick and many loving nieces and nephews. Duane was predeceased by his father, Leon McCormick, and brothers, Tony Wangler and Scott McCormick.

Visitation is Monday, June 15, 2020 from 10 AM until a 12 noon service at Thabet Funeral Home, 6255 Main St., Cass City. Brad Speirs will officiate. Honoring Duane’s wishes, cremation will take place.

Memorials donations may be given to the charity of the donor’s choice.
