Linda Sue (Brown) Mika, age 75 beloved mother, grandmother, aunt and friend, passed away Sun., Aug. 31, 2025, peacefully with family at her side in Cass City, after a three-month health battle. Linda was born Feb. 16, 1950, to the late Willis R. and Loretta S. (Jackson) Brown. She spent her elementary years growing up next to the New Greenleaf Elevator where her dad oversaw the day-to-day operations. In 1958, the family moved “into town” on Houghton Street where the family could blossom near the bigger school. Linda is a 1968 graduate of Cass City High School. She has fond memories of working at Sommers Bakery for several years before embarking on a three-decade career in nursing, She settled down in Shabbona, where she raised her two sons. After her boys left the house, Linda moved to Oxford, to work as a home nurse. She remained there until retirement in 2019. Immediately after retirement, she moved back to Cass City to be closer to her family.
Linda enjoyed visiting with her family and friends. She loved going to garage sales and playing cards, a family trait she definitely inherited from her mother. Linda adored attending all the sporting events, dance recitals and family time that came with watching her grandchildren grow. She always looked forward to dog-sitting her fur grandbaby, Zeke every spring. Linda was also an avid lifelong fan of the Detroit Tigers and tried to watch every game.
Linda is survived by her two sons, Greg Mika of Cass City and Kevin (Jennifer) Mika of Freeland, brother-in-law, Tino Benitez, sister-in-law, Jill Brown, grandchildren Kirsten, Seth, Tucker and Quinn, nephews, Jeff and Mark Brown and nieces, Lisa Benitez and Erin (Benitez) Everlof. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brothers, Wayne and Morris Brown znd her sister, Wanda (Brown) Benitez.
A funeral service to honor Linda will be Sat., Sept. 13, 2025 at Novesta Church of Christ, 2896 Cemetery Rd, Cass City with visitation from 10 AM until 12 noon. The funeral service will start at 12 noon. Brad Spiers officiating. Honoring Linda’s wishes, cremation will take place and interment will be at Elkland Township Cemetery with personal family at a later date. After the service a luncheon for family and friends will be at The Charmont in Cass City.
