Mrs. Martha Evelyn Emmons, age 94, of Gagetown, passed away, suddenly Tue., March 22, 2018 at Covenant Healthcare – Cooper, Saginaw. She was born in Vassar, Sept. 8, 1923, to the late Arthur and Mary (Pe’cure) Whidden. She married Norman Emmons on Nov. 12, 1940 in the Grant Township Hall. He passed away Jan. 1, 1979. Martha retired from Summer’s Bakery, she volunteered as a Foster Grandparent. She enjoyed bird watching, especially hummingbirds, which were her favorite, gardening, cooking and loved the outdoors and loved spending time with her grandchildren. Martha is survived by her children, Richard (Joyce) Emmons of Gagetown, Ruth Ann (Noel) Lloyd of Millington, Leonard (Linda) Emmons of Oklahoma, Eileen (Dennis) Rievert of Gagetown, John Emmons of Arizona and Betty Lou Mayberry of Caro, 20 grandchildren, 25 great grandchildren and 10 great, great grandchildren. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her daughter, Shirley, sons, Bernard and Norman, Jr., siblings, Abbie Ackerman, Leanore Shantz, Hazel Nitz, Lillian Henderson, John Whidden, Arthur Whidden, Herbert Whidden and Dorothy Whidden, son-in-law, Steven Mayberry and daughter-in-law, Carol Emmons. Visitation is Mon., March 26, 2018 from 6 until 8 PM at Thabet Funeral Home, 6255 Main St., Cass City and on Tues., March 27, 2018 from 10 until an 11 AM service, at Gagetown Church of the Nazarene, 6609 Lincoln St., Gagetown. Pastor Rob Lewis officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Grant Township Cemetery. Pastor Kyle Boils will officiate the committal service. Memorials may be made to Martha’s family.
