Melvin McFarland Obituary
Mr. Melvin A. McFarland, age 90, of Cass City, passed away Tuesday, May 22, 2018
at Medilodge of Cass City.
He was born April 21, 1928, in Romeo, the son of the late William and Catherine
(Edwards) McFarland. On July 1, 1950 he married Dorothy Nixon in Bad Axe. Melvin
worked for 46 years at Active Industries (now Tower Automotive), Elkton and was a
farmer and dairy farmer and enjoyed working with rocks, making jewelry.
He is survived by his loving wife of 67 years, Dorothy, children, Melvin A. (Genevieve)
McFarland, Jr. of Caro, Debra M. (Gordon) Wills and Randy W. (Diane) McFarland, both
of Cass City, 10 grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren and 1 great, great grandson, and
a sister-in-law, Beverly McFarland of Bay City and special “grandson” Clinton Ellis. He was
predeceased by 2 sisters, Eva (the late Lyle) Rochefort, Isabelle (the late Don) Lange and a
brother, Earl McFarland.
Visitation will be Thursday, May 24, 2018 from 2 until 8 PM at Thabet Funeral Home,
6255 Main St., Cass City and on Friday, May 25, 2018 from 10 until an 11 AM service at
Faith Gospel Tabernacle, 3108 Rescue Rd., Bad Axe. Pastor Mike Beeler officiating.
Burial will be in Elkland Township Cemetery.
Memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association.
