Mr. Richard A. Otulakowski, age 97, of Ubly, formerly of St. Clair, passed away on Wed., July 10, 2024 at The Heartlands, Marlette.
He was born Sept. 30, 1926, in Detroit, to the late William and Lillian (Gorecki) Otulakowski. Richard served in the U S Army and Coast Guard. While in the Army he received the Asiatic Pacific Theater Ribbon with 1 Bronze Battle Star, Phillippine Liberation Ribbon with 1 Bronze Star, Victory Medal, Good Conduct Medal and Army of Occupation Medal (Japan). He worked as a church caretaker in the Detroit area, as a handyman on the family farm and as a driver at the Chrysler Proving Grounds.
Richard is survived by a brother, Eugene (the late Adveda) Otulakowski of Marlette and sisters, Patricia (Joe) Walsh and Lillian (the late Evans) Gibbard, both of Ubly and many loving nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by brothers and sisters, Stella Leszczynski, Leon (the late Helen) Leszczynski, Walter (the late Helen) Otulakowski, Rose (the late Bob) Czarnecki and Stanley (the late Barbara) Otulakowski and very good friend, Ruth Miller.
Visitation is Sat., July 20, 2024 at Our Lady Consolata Parish, St. Pancratius Church, 4292 S. Seeger St., Cass City from 9 until 10 AM. A funeral mass will be celebrated by Fr. Robert Pare and Deacon David Gillespie at 10 AM. Burial will be in Elkland Township Cemetery, Cass City.
Honor service by members of the U S Army and the Cass City VFW Post 3644.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Compassus Hospice of Cass City and be given to the family.
