Richard Keith Welby

Mr. Richard Keith Welby, age 69, of Ubly, passed away Tuesday, March 19, 2019 at his home. He was born November 16, 1949, in Detroit, the son of the late Richard John and Corrine (Specht) Welby. On September 30, 2006 he married the former Theresa Anne Gibbard in the Little White Chapel, Snover. Keith graduated from Kimball High School in Royal Oak in 1968 and received his Journeyman’s Card from Schoolcraft College. He was employed as a tool and die and metal model maker, retiring in 2009 from General Motors, Warren Tech Center. Keith had a passion for collecting cars and spending winters in Florida. When Keith and Theresa married in 2006, they moved to the Ubly area where he loved living in the country. He is survived by his wife, Theresa Anne Welby, children, Cheryl Laming, Amelia Hope Welby and Richard Jason Welby, 6 grandchildren, 1 great grandchild, sister, Cathi (Mike) Gris, brother, John Welby and his friend David, in-laws, Evans (Lillian) Gibbard, Dan (Christina) Gibbard, Greg (Chris) Moore, Sandy (Dan) Taylor, Kim (Kevin) Thiel and many nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by his first wife, Rose, a sister-in-law, Deborah Welby, brother, Fred Welby, brother-in-law, Thomas Gibbard, a daughter, Rebecca Waggoner and an infant sister, Nancy. Honoring his wishes, cremation has taken place and a memorial service will be held at a later date.
