Mr. Roger F. Peters, age 63, of Allegan, MI passed away, with his family at his side, April 17, 2006 at St. Mary's Hospital, Grand Rapids, MI, after a long battle with cancer.
Roger was born November 14, 1942 in Deckerville, MI to the late Virgel and Sophie (Konkel) Peters. On July 2, 1966 he married Judy Spencer. In 1975 he moved from Cass City to Allegan where he owned and operated Allegan hardwood and later Hi-Way Variety. He enjoyed fishing, boating, woodwork, stockcar racing, horse races, playing poker and bowling. He traveled to the Bahamas and to Canada and Wyoming for hunting. His grandchildren will always remember the time they spent with Roger cooking and building wood projects. Roger loved to pursue ways to simplify complicated or difficult tasks often succeeding in making it more complicated or difficult.
Roger is survived by his wife, Judy, sons, Greg (Jody) Peters and Kirk (ShellyJo) Peters, grandchildren, Caleb Peters and Samantha Lynn, all of Allegan, siblings, Patricia (Howard) Kelley of Glennie, Ronald Peters, Dwaine (Helen) Peters and Larry (Harriet) Peters, all of Cass City, Mary Lou Kerr of Bay City and Randy (Julie) Peters of Sherwood, sister-in-laws, Laura Spencer and Dorothy Spencer, brother-in-law, Clinton (Diana) Spencer, many nieces, nephews, cousins, Aunt Marie and Uncle Wally, and special friends Shirley Lynn of Allegan and Will and Sue Warners of Bloomingdale. Roger was predeceased by brothers, LaVern Peters and Gordon Peters, sister-in-law, Nancy Peters, brother-in-law, Raymond Spencer, mother-in-law and father-in-law, June and Wayne Spencer.
Visiting will be Thursday, April 20, from 2 - 5 and 7 - 9 PM at Thabet Funeral Home, 6255 Main St., Cass City and on Friday, April 21, from 10 until an 11 am service at St. Pancratius Catholic Church, 4292 S. Seeger, Cass City. Burial is in Novesta Township Cemetery. Memorials may be made to Roger's family to assist with medical expenses.
