Mrs. Ruth DEtta Freeman, age 85, of Deford, passed away Saturday, November 16, 2019 at her home.
She was born November 7, 1934 to the late Herbert and Iva (Stephens) Phillips in Cass City. Ruth married Gilbert Leroy Freeman, March 19, 1952. He passed away March 1, 2011. She worked at General Cable and the Deford Post Office and enjoyed flower gardening, reading, crossword puzzles and music.
Ruth is survived by her children, Terri (Kenneth) Graichen of Deford, Debra Parker and companion, Irv Thume of Twining, Rebecca (the late Sam) Spencer of Deford, Penny (Mishel) Ashtary of Fort Wayne, IN, Holly (John) Binder of Mayville and Gilbert H. Freeman of Caro, 14 grandchildren, 28 great grandchildren Special friend, Fred Kilbourn and special friends, James and Wanda. In addition to her husband, she was predeceased by a brother, Charles Phillips.
Honoring Ruth’s wishes, cremation has taken place. Ruth and Gilbert will be buried together in Novesta Township Cemetery on Saturday, June 6, 2020 at 11:00 AM. Committal service officiated by Brad Speirs. Memorials may be given to Residential Home Healthcare Hospice in lieu of flowers.
