Mrs. Wilma M. Hartwick, age 89, of Marshall, formerly of Cass City, passed away, Sun., March 6, 2016 at Bronson at Home Hospice Residence, Battle Creek.
Wilma was born April 27, 1926 in Gagetown, the daughter of the late Glenn and Leola (Bingham) TerBush. She married Leland Hartwick in Elkton, Nov. 23, 1950. He passed away Feb. 11, 2007. She worked at A & P in 1944 and as a switch board operator (before dial phone service) until her marriage. She loved getting her hands in the dirt, doing flower and vegetable gardening, especially roses. She also liked sewing, knitting, crocheting, reading, camping and fishing. Wilma even once made a blueberry pie with a device Leland made on the campfire. She liked garage sales, reality TV shows, the Weather Channel, loved her cat, Polly, Susan's dogs and cats and time with her family. She had a great sense of humor and everyone she met found her to be kind and a good friend.
Wilma is survived by her children: Allyn Hartwick of Cass City, Susan (Alyne) Howard of Marshall and Sharla Conforti of Memphis, 4 grandchildren, Travis Hartwick, Stephanie Hartwick, Erin Howard and Brett Conforti, 5 great grandchildren, sisters, Glennola (the late Richard) Root of Cass City, Virjean (Wayne) King of Caro and Dorothea (Clayton) Sawdon of Deford and a sister-in-law, Etselene TerBush of Deford. She was predeceased by a brother, Darold TerBush.
Visiting will be Wed., March 9, from 2 until 8 PM and Thurs., March 10 from 10 until an 11 AM service at Thabet Funeral Home, 6255 Main St., Cass City. Pastor David Cooper officiating. Burial will be in the spring in Elkland Township Cemetery.
